Tully Tuesday's Volume 4. Free Agency

I hate the first week of NFL Free Agency. It’s like a cold Reese’s in the freezer, you know you want to eat one but it isn’t worth it in the long run. I’ve learned in years of being a Cowboys fan that there is no reason to get excited for this week because they will literally not do a single thing. This year has held true, as 31/32 teams made a transaction yesterday, guess who the 1 was.

It’s one thing for you to have a process and a plan, but the Cowboys are near the bottom of the league in cash spending and are using the contracts for Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb as excuses to not make a splash in free agency. Cue I think you should leave Hot dog picture.

The Eagles went out and got Saquon Barkley, who will make an impact this year for sure before getting hurt like he has every year. The Giants traded for Brian Burns which made me feel better because the Panthers may be the only team dumber than the Cowboys. They had an opportunity to send him to the Rams in 2022 for Two 1’s and a 2 and ended up coming dead last in the nfl without their first-round pick and getting a 2 and a 5. That’s so bad.

A free agent period in life would be an electric situation. Hard Ball negotiations between finance bros in Patagonia Vests getting announced as the new member of the team. LinkedIn has tried to match this energy on a day to day but every we never get to see the roster moves behind the scenes that lead to the openings. Would be a fun concept to put a BDR on the trade block for a Marketing Coordinator and future considerations.

I wish I cared about a lot of things as much as I do the NFL but that’s just the way it is.

I had an absolute blast on Saturday Night calling the Winchester vs Arlington Catholic Boys D-1 Final Four Game. These two teams were zipping all over the ice and played a great back and forth tilt that ended in OT. The crowds were electric, and seemingly too large to control through the evening. Crowds at High School games are some of my favorite sports things, particularly when in a big game. Here’s the game winner from Saturday

Probably yelled a little loud but it was so loud in the rink I could barely hear myself. Live and Learn. Also big shout out to Duxbury and Algonquin girls who played the D2 Final Four before. There was more hitting in that game than most of the games I’ve covered this year. Bodies absolutely flying and the goalies both played excellent despite a 3-1 final for Duxbury.

Nothing on the schedule this week until a few games at the TD Garden Next Sunday, a lot of games scrambled in through April and a lot of golf in the forecast as it looks like we’re dodging a winter of snow. Shoutout PTux Phil.

See you next week.
