Tully Tuesdays Volume 3
Rambling into March
4 weeks from spring time. I hate gross rainy days but every day with gray clouds and that disgusting 45 degree air is just a snow day that we dodged. This time of year means two things. Golf is almost here and Sumo Oranges are sooooo back.
I’ve had an exciting week. Got some great news on my broadcasting work and should be expanding where you can find me calling games very soon.
I’m absolutely fired up for the NCAA Conference tournaments coming up. Next weekend is the best of the best as far as I’m concerned. I love the big tournament, but the wall-to-wall coverage of teams fighting for their life and legacies really stands out to me in the conference tourneys. Shout out Jake Diebler and the Buckeyes. Let’s get in the dance.
Jason Kelce retired yesterday, he gave a great speech and should have a great career in media ahead. Fine player.
We’re getting to the age where athletes retiring are creeping closer and closer to our age. All the quarterbacks we grew up with are gone, and the current fleet ages with us. I remember vividly when the Redskins drafted Griffin and Cousins, now Griffin is on ESPN and Cousins is 36 coming off an Achillies injury probably with 1 or 2 more real years left in his career. Life has moved at the pace of a Madden simulation and frankly I’m not fond of it.
Short post this week I’m very busy this week with work as well as covering HS playoffs in Mass, lot of basketball and hockey games ahead. I always look forward to this time of year, the games mean more, and usually lead to better matchups, opposed to some of the regular season blowouts we end up seeing. I called a great women’s hockey game last week, where one team was clearly outclassed but their goalie stood on her head through out the game, shots were probably 35-15 but the goalie kept her team right in it all the way into overtime. While her season ended moments into OT, I was taken back by the effort to will her team further and further into the game.
I’ll be jumping around stations this week doing games, as I get my schedule I’ll share on here as well. Enjoy the week, here’s a clip from last week.
Survive and advance for @mc_girlshockey.
They come back and win it in OT 2-1.
Baker does it again.
