Tully Tuesday Volume 33

I’m trying my best to care about baseball during the playoffs. I really am. I throw the early game on in the background and try to make sure when one of the stars are up that I’m watching. I always loved baseball, but it just doesn’t hit the same when your team is a joke and doesn’t care about winning.

Now the Red Sox are 6 years removed from a World Series win and deserve a little grace. The last few falls without being in the playoffs are a total system failure. It’s not football, there’s no salary cap, you can be the Yankees and buy your way into the playoffs. The Red Sox are supposed to be one of the teams that do that, and they should be. But they’re not and they don’t seem close to being one of those teams in the near future and that sucks.

Alright I’m bored let’s move on. The NFL rocks this year. There isn’t a dominant team yet outside of the Chiefs, and even they look beatable on the right night. Derrick Carr arm punted the game away on the first drive last night and it was a pretty smooth ride to 5-0 for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. I should hate the Chiefs, they’re good, they’re cocky, and they continue to win regardless of circumstance. I just don’t, I think the Patriots growing up have jaded me to teams like this. In reality I had no real reason to hate them other than dealing with Patriot fans on the daily. But now that the Patriots are the worst team in the NFL, I want them to be better so football doesn’t fall off the cliff totally here in New England.

But outside of the Chiefs there are good teams playing awesome games. That Ravens Bengals game might’ve been the best game so far this year. The Cardinals upset the 49ers and I love seeing them lose. The Saints won their Super Bowl in Dallas and have lost 3 games in a row and look like a pumpkin again. A handful of the clear-cut front runners like the Buffalo Bills and Dolphins have stumbled hard, and best of all there’s just so much football left in the season.

But it’s not just the NFL. College football has fully ramped up and last weekend we saw top teams like Alabama, Tennessee, Missouri and USC all lost this weekend. We also saw middling bad teams like Michigan get bounced from the Top 10 and continue their downward spiral into the long goodnight. I can’t wait for OSU to beat the shit out of them in November.

This weekend is the kind of weekend that dreams are made of. College this weekend features Ohio State at Oregon in what should be an absolute freak show of a good game, Penn State USC, Texas Oklahoma, Ole Miss LSU perfectly aligned throughout the afternoon.

The Tully boys have a pretty sweet little Dallas weekend cooked up. Fly in Friday, crush some Tex Mex. 18 in the morning on Saturday, BBQ for lunch, and then OSU Oregon at COSM in Dallas to end the day. I am jacked.

I’ll share a recap next week but I am so jacked to see what this is all about.

Sunday we go breakfast tacos, watch the 1 pm games at Texas Live and roll on into AT&T for a big showdown with the Lions. I’m not expecting the Cowboys to beat the Lions with their current depleted roster on both offense and defense. But man did the win on Sunday Night save the season for the Cowboys. If they lose that game they are looking at a scary scene with the Lions, 49ers, Falcons, and Eagles (get right game) coming up on the schedule.

Post script note. The Commanders scare me.

Til Next week
