Football makes everything better

  • I’m writing this column today as the toughest guy maybe to ever type. I split the tip of my thumb on a food processor on Saturday night. Gushing blood, about an inch across, and by the looks of it each time I put a new wrap on, pretty deep.

  • But how could a man of my ethos sit out a blog for a laceration? I can’t. Especially not during football season.

  • We had a great first week of football for PreSnap, triple digit downloads, a 12-4 record picking games, and good engagement with the digital content. I will try to not overload this space with that, but I really do feel the service can provide a lot of fun and help to like minded friends of mine. • Ohio State played GrambIing State in possible the biggest mismatch in the history of sports. If you didn’t watch, which why would you if you weren’t a fan of OSU, take a look at the first half highlights. It was easier than playing NCAA on Freshman. I think I could’ve won this game at QB, and I think I would’ve just had to take the snap and handoff. It was an absolute domination, and it’s also crazy to think that OSU did this to Michigan State not too long ago too.

  • This week is the Massachusetts Mid-Am at Andover Country Club. I have some serious fomo after just missing the cut in the qualifier. The Course looks amazing and I hope they keep it in this kind of shape throughout September. I’m gonna go watch my pal Brad get on a run after work today. Looking forward to seeing how everything looks

How 433 Investors Unlocked 400X Return Potential

Institutional investors back startups to unlock outsized returns. Regular investors have to wait. But not anymore. Thanks to regulatory updates, some companies are doing things differently.

Take Revolut. In 2016, 433 regular people invested an average of $2,730. Today? They got a 400X buyout offer from the company, as Revolut’s valuation increased 89,900% in the same timeframe.

Founded by a former Zillow exec, Pacaso’s co-ownership tech reshapes the $1.3T vacation home market. They’ve earned $110M+ in gross profit to date, including 41% YoY growth in 2024 alone. They even reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO.

The same institutional investors behind Uber, Venmo, and eBay backed Pacaso. And you can join them. But not for long. Pacaso’s investment opportunity ends September 18.

Cowboys Thoughts

I actually came away from Thursday feeling really good about the Cowboys. CeeDee needs to catch the ball. He had 2 or 3 really big drops, and don’t let Feguson off the hook for his drop in the endzone before Miles Sanders fumbled. Pickens dumbass personal foul didn’t help much either.

I think the Cowboys still need a stud running back to scare teams, but Javonte Williams looked really good in his debut. 2 Tds and some really good hard runs. They need a homerun hitter, Jaydon Blue may be that guy but he was inactive week one. Kenny Clark was as advertised and they had no issues slowing down the run when he was in the game. It might be easy to say with Hurts scrambling that Dallas missed Parsons, but the guy they really miss is DeMarvion Overshown, who tore his ACL late last year, he is on target to return midseason and he needs to get there fast. Holding AJ Brown and Devonta Smith down was exactly what the Cowboys were hoping for down the stretch last year when Diggs and Bland would play together, but they never got the chance with overlapping injuries.

Jalen Carter is a great player. But he is a dumbass. Spitting on Dak was textbook dumbass behavior. To insinuate that Dak was spitting on him is hilarious. They are 5 yards away. That’s a 15 foot loogee. GTFO dude. Also, why are you standing on the Dallas side of the ball? Trying to be Mr Big Shot shit talking a rookie. Great player. Going to do a lot more dumb shit in his career. Philly being Philly.

Best Game I watched this week

Football season we’ll do a dual parter for this section Starting in College with the best game of the weekend, surprisingly enough between Boston College and Michigan State

Couple of Thoughts, these are not playoff teams but these teams played their balls off all night. BC’s QB Dylan Lonergan is the real deal. I wonder if Big Time school QBs will look at BC as a transfer spot with Bill O’Brien going forward. He has the NFL Experience and can help tailor a QB to be ready for the pros. Lonergan looks like the best BC QB since Matt Ryan through 2 weeks.

Easy Choice in the NFL

This game was so crazy the highlights are 21 minutes long. 81 points, 2 great QBs, Derrick Henry, Joey Bosa looking like 2014 OSU Joey Bosa. It had everything. I had some parlays in this game. Henry 2 TD alone, Henry + Allen 2 TDs, Lamar+Cook+Allen TDS, so after a ho-hum day I ended up making some really solid dough on SNF, which was an awesome way to cap off Week 1, padding the bankroll that should last me a while.

God I would love for Josh Allen to be my QB. I love Dak, and I’d love to have Lamar as well before you go there, but Allen is just such a wild card and so fun to watch. He carried the Bills back into this game, aided by Derrick Henry’s fumble.

I had two problems with how the Ravens handled the game down the stretch. First off, you can’t punt on 4 & 3 in front of the 2 minute warning from your own 39. You had a chance to end the game right there, and if you have the chance to end the game, I want Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry to be involved in the play that wins the game instead of Josh Allen.

My second issue was how they handled their time outs before the Field Goal. They called their 3rd with 20 seconds and allowed the Bills to come out and run another play and give their FG team time to run on the field. I would’ve run it down to 13 or 14 seconds and force Buffalo to either spike the ball or may day after a kneel and rush the field goal. Harbaugh gave the Bills the option to kick as time expired and never had a chance.

Also Ben Johnson threw up all over the field last night managing the clock. Peyton was beside himself.

Best Show I’ve Watched this Week

I did a rewatch this week. I recently watched Jailbreak: Love on the Run, which was a good Doc on a prison escape with a grim ending. Worth the watch

After talking about it with from friends I was reminded of Escape at Dannemora, which was an awesome show in 2018 documenting the Dannemora Prison Escape in 2015. I am finishing it now and it still holds up. Great 8 series drama and some really great acting from Benicio, Paul Dano, and Patricia Arquette

Weekly Sports Knowledge Test

Gonna do one or two of these a week. Wish Stump the Schwab was still a thing. I need to get on the Dozen.

Nostalgic Athlete of the Week

Ravens Bills Game of the week had me thinking of guys who played for both teams and Willis McGahee was top of mind. What a stud.
