Tully Tuesday's Volume 76, Getting geared up, Football is here, half baked business ideas, and I don't care about Jerry Jones' documentary
Thoughts Column
First off today is my Two Year Wedding Anniversary shared with my Beautiful wife Hannah. We have been together for 13 years but every day is just as good if not better than the last. We have experienced a lot in the two years since our wedding, from a cancelled and replanned honeymoon, 2 moves, one of which being forced out of our apartment with a 5 month old on the end of her maternity leave, and of course the birth and continued growth of our amazing Daughter. I’ve been so lucky to have her as my partner in crime since my Senior Year of High School and I owe so many of my accomplishments to her. We are having a blast as parents and I always wanted the life we have now.
I have a Mid Amateur Qualifier tomorrow, where I will be trying to finish in the Top 11 for a spot in the State Mid Am hosted by my home club, Andover Country Club. Despite my disastrous Club Championship match, I have been playing really solid golf recently. Hitting the ball well and the putter has come around after a couple of months of practice in the basement. I’m focusing on treating Putts the same way I treat drives, just picking a spot and letting it rip, or just thinking of long putts as 3 Pointers and short putts as free throws. When you’re shooting hoops you’re not focused on your micro adjustments and alignments or how far the rebound will go, you’re letting your body drive the car and just getting shots up. That has really helped me on the greens and even chipping as well. I tend to get too mechanical, and I’ve stopped using a line on the ball to try and free myself up. We’ll see how it goes, I’ve played well in my prior qualifiers but I have had 3 stroke play tournament rounds this month, which I think should help me get into the groove easier than in the past. I’m playing a course I’ve never seen before, but thanks to Decade and some green mapping on the Grint I feel really prepared to challenge my game tomorrow. I got my boy Lucas on the bag with strict instructions to just remind me to be loose and let it rip and talk NFL in between shots. If nothing else, our post round beer will be a great one.
I could not care less about the Cowboys documentary. On the One Star Cowboys podcast, Jon Machota, the Athletic beat reporter for the Cowboys, he said one of the producers told him they had over 40 hours of Jerry Jones interview tape. This seems like such a puff piece on Jerry that he is producing himself, I wonder if the Patriots documentary and the way it portrayed Kraft is what spurned him into making this. There’s more than enough documentation and stories on the early Jones years and the 90s of the Cowboys, I want to see the bullshit from my lifetime. I want to see the origin of Tony Romo, and the 2007 Divisional Game where Patrick Crayton dropped the ball. I want to see the blowout vs Minnesota in the Divisional, I want to see more of the Packers game in 14, and in 23. I want Jerry’s takes on all his failures, his successes are older than me. If this is a true look at Jerry Jones it needs to feature the last 30 years, where he has nothing to show for his “Gambler” Mentality. I don’t care about the TV deal, and the Ownership perks that Jerry has contributed. I want to see football and I want answers for the bullshit I’ve lived through. Someone will make that documentary that paints him the way Kraft was painted, he was just trying to get out in front of it with this piece.
I have a business idea that I want to flesh out. A networking community for Golfers to do business deals. A Vendor has x employees who are members at prestigious clubs, they sign a contract for X amount of meetings/rounds per year that they will host prospects. My Company connects qualified prospects who are golfers to these companies, they play golf together and take it from there. I feel like I could pull it off but not sure if this already exists? It seems so obvious to me. TM- Tim Tully

Best Game I watched this week (Scottie Scheffler Section)
This guy is un-fucking believable. I was golfing with my dad and brother, we had the tournament up on our phones, when he was lining up that chip you almost knew it was going in. The hole wasn’t even in the frame until the last 3 seconds of the shot. He is such a machine. I recouped my Fleetwood loss last week by betting Scottie with a DK boost on Sunday Morning. Nice to see one go through the hoop. Interesting to see how everything will go at East Lake but how can you take anyone but Scottie? Such a monster.
Best Thing I Bought this Week
All I bought this week was balls for my tourney and Formula for the baby. Formula has high reviews as always from G-Unit. I’ll let you know how the Pro-V’s treat me next week.
Podcast Episode of the Week
This is a cool interview, I’m not a huge Jonas Brothers guy but I always like hearing the behind the music type interviews like this. They play some demos of their big hits some of which they made as kids on Garageband. Pretty cool and they all seem like genuinely good dudes. Glad they are touring and crushing it again.
Also this rocked
What I Watched this Week
This is a tacky movie but I do like it. There’s a 3rd coming out this fall, I hope it’s more like the first than the 2nd. I tried to roll right into the Second after watching Now You See Me and it’s painfully bad. They overplay the corny stuff and try not to take things too seriously, but it feels mailed in. Not a big Ruffalo guy.
NFL Future of the Week
Now that we’re ready for some football, this section is going to bounce around. I put in two season futures and thought I’d share.
