I have an unbelievable urge to make homemade tortillas. I made Fajitas on my Weber Slate, not an ad, yet. They rocked. Steak was solid, vegetables kicked ass. But I was left with a deep yearn for better tortillas. The Tortilla situation up north is rough. Even at a Mexican restaurant you aren’t getting high quality tillas. I am a fanatic. I don’t eat at Qdoba because their Tortillas are so bad. Chipotle boasts a stronger vehicle, so that’s where my business goes. Honey Chicken still bomb by the way. I grew up in a Tacos once a week house hold, we had the little tortilla heater and would get the Stop & Shop Mission Tortillas. They get the job done. By why is it so hard to capture the magic of a fantastic tortilla? The reality, according to several Mexican youtubers I have been studying is that it’s not.
My guy Saul makes it look so easy. His Abuela used to churn these bad boys out by the dozens. I have the same equipment of Saul. And I will be reporting next week on how the Tully Tortilla Thursday goes. I am trying to match the tortillas at Uncle Julio’s / Rio Grande, which boast the best Chain Tortillas you can get. We were a 2 or 3 Queso bowl family, and we’d get an extra basket of tortillas to tackle the queso. If you have a tortilla recipe other than Salt, Warm Water, Flour, Butter, and an Abuela’s love, please pass it along.
Reminder to get your annual Skin Cancer Screening, I have mine today. With the amount of time, I spend in the sun, and my family history it’s imperative to go at least once a year to get checked. Skin Cancer is preventable with the right proactivity, and I encourage you to get checked and encourage your circle to get checked frequently. The Disease has severely impacted my family, and I wish there was more education on the topic.
I’ve dove deeper into my golf design hobby. I got a new bag for my birthday and ordered it without any embroidery, and gave myself a chance to take a swing at it. I think it looks pretty sweet. And it’s probably theft proof thanks to the Star on it. As someone who dropped out of Cub Scouts because I hated the crafts, I’m pretty proud of how this came out.
I’m going to throw a couple more edits on there, Two Buckeye Leaf Patches on the side pocket for my hole in ones, I also got a NASCAR Style Name tag with Tully and the Number 5 that looks like it would be on the side of a NASCAR Trailer that I’m hoping comes out as well as the other patch did. Might do some more stars on the carry straps too but I think at some point (we may already be there) it’s overkill. If you’d like some help dialing in your bag let me know! Happy to help and send over the Etsy stores I used to compile the badges.
Very Little Context Us Open Preview
Here are the guys I’m picking in my 7 Player Pool with a quick snippet on why.
Scottie Scheffler; He’s the best player in the world coming off back to back wins. He is going to win this week.
Bryson Dechambeau; He’s in the mix at every Major and I watched his Oakmont walkthrough on YouTube and think he understands where he has to take his chances vs play it safe, and he’s a very underrated Putter.
Sepp Straka: Top 5 in Strokes Gained TTG and Putting, has been in the mix alot
Xander: Just a stud. Has played well in US Opens, good control and putter
Patrick Cantlay: Just feel like he can bore the course if the winning score is close to par.
Jason Day: Short Game is so good, feels like he is due, the kind of long time tour pro who can win one of these
Shane Lowry. Same as Sepp, great SG, and always in the mix.
Best Game I watched this week
I’ve been trying to really enjoy these Finals series knowing the darkness of Summer Sports is looming. Game 1 and Game 2 of the SCF were incredible, as was Game 1 of the NBA finals. Haliburton is absurd. I was bummed Edmonton got smoked last night, but glad they got smoked by 5 instead of 4 to tick that over 6.5 (3-0) in the series on overs so far. I want McDavid to get his cup, and part of me thinks Marchand will come back if Florida doesn’t win so that’s my rooting interest. But Marchy has been so good it’s hard not to root for Florida a bit. He gave so much to the Bruins and deserves another Cup.

Podcast Episode of the Week
Not a podcast, but as I mentioned a really cool look at the US Open Venue and Bryson plays pretty well for a period that’s fun to watch.
Best Show I’ve Watched this Week
Tires rocks, Shane is the funniest guy out there right now, and the other Cast Members deliver as well. I’m a big fan of this crew and would watch them doing most anything, this show is very well done. My brother has engrained himself in with this crew and they’ve all been super nice and cool to him as well which rocks.
Nostalgic Athlete of the Week
How about TD? What a great name for a Running Back. I learned about him through Backyard Football which then turned into Madden at the end of his career. He was a stud.
