Tully Tuesday's Volume 44

We made it to the end of 2024. I whiffed last week on Christmas eve. That’s my bad. What did I miss? The Cowboys still suck and should still fire Mike McCarthy to find a coach to fix their offense. The Lions are gritty as hell, but I think the Vikings are going to get them next week. We are geared up for some awesome NFL Playoff football, and today and tomorrow should be awesome College Football.

What are some new years resolutions for 2025?

For me I want to continue to pressing on with the blog, hopefully reaching 52 straight weeks of Tully Tuesdays, with a hiatus on July 4th. I’d like to continue to grow our following and make strides to continue to bring fun content and winning picks to the readership.

I’d like to eat healthier and go to the gym with an action plan rather than jumping around doing whatever feels good that day. I’d like to get greedy and get another hole in one, it’s been a year and a half but statistically I am due in 2025. I’d like to continue to root hard for my sports teams but maybe not live and die as hard with the losses, a skill I worked on this fall to some success with my big stupid Cowboys.

For my teams? Well the Cowboys resolution should be for them to have one personnel/front office member in the room who has built a Super Bowl team in the last 30 years. Their entire department is homegrown from intern to VP, and if you look around the league that is an anomaly for top franchises, and a commonality for bad teams.

Presented without comment

For the Buckeyes I’d like to beat Michigan. Ohio State has won 10 of the last 14 meetings but that’s just not good enough. That’s really the only improvement I can hope for them, considering they are going to win the National Championship this year.

Oh wait what?

Yes.

College Football Playoff Quarterfinal Preview

Fiesta Bowl

Penn State is going to roll Boise State. I like their team total as the pick for the game o34.5. They are going to score and leave no doubt. James Franklin doesn’t beat top 5 teams. But he covers against inferior opponents, so feel free to go that way.

Peach Bowl

Same deal here, this is another first round quality game. I think AST will put up a good fight but Texas will be too much for them. I’m more weary of the number here than Penn State, and once again I like the team total over 33.5. This will start slow and then Texas will bust a 70 yard touchdown and we’ll be off to the races.

Rose Bowl

The Granddaddy of them All. I wish I was going. I should have decided to go. For reasons, I should stay at home but god damn is this going to be an awesome football game. The two best teams in the country, two awesome uniforms, in the best college football setting that exists. I hate how much I love the Buckeyes this week. The long break for Oregon will be nice but remember, it will have been an 11 day break for OSU as well, and they found their offense again last week. OSU’s defense hasn’t allowed a team to score 2 touchdowns since they played Oregon. They will let up more than that this week but Oregon didn’t drive the ball consistently against OSU the 1st game. Ohio State will be stout on the run and have a plan for the downfield passing that got them in trouble in game one. Also remember Oregon got some serious calls in the first half and ended up with a free onside kick after an unsportsmanlike penalty. This game is a banger. Osu -1.5

Sugar Bowl

I am going to be emotionally exhausted by the time this game kicks off one way or another. I like Georgia but I like the over more in this game. I think Georgia will rally around Stockton and be able to move the ball with him in at QB. Notre Dame better be ready to run Riley Leonhard 10+ times in this game. If they do it will open up their stable of running backs for a big day. I think Jeremiah Love is the MVP of this round if ND pulls off the win. He is a game breaker and will bust a long one before the game is over.

Happy New Year, thanks for reading, we’ll see you in 2025.

Til Next Year,
